Government offices, post offices, schools and most businesses are closed on this day.On this day Our Nation,India became independent from British ruling in 1947 however, at that stage, had no formal constitution. All the celebrations across India on this day are vibrant and joyous events with several opportunities for students to showcase their costumes and cultural dance skills.It is a day for many happy festivities and these include excellent meals. some of the favorite foods for Republic Day in India are Kesaria-Hara Paneer Tikka,Tricolor Pulao Rice, Saffron Biryani, Boondi Laddu and of course sweets for the children.The Republic Day celebrations end 3 days later on the evening of 29 january with a military celebration that includes the beating of the retreat and is performed by the bands of the three sections of the military, Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
